Does waterloo do admissions based on high school rankings and weighting?

ive heard from people that university of waterloo is using high school rankings to dtermine the success of first year students. for example, based on the history of students in the past successful rate in first year, UW will use this info to predict how your marks will be. so when doig admissions they may deduct percentages from your admission average.. is this true?
