Wood type for gazebo / porch?

No matter your local weather or which wood you choose, any kind of wood will eventually need to be refinished. Repainting or refinishing latticework over an average size deck/porch is a job I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Or maybe I would, on second thought. Point is, plan ahead--do you really want to refinish all those individual lattices some years down the road? My deck is covered with textured aluminum latticework that looks like painted wood--no refinishing ever!
