Stitches and wisdom teeth?

My wisdom teeth were surgically removed 2 days ago, and i have several stitches. How long do they typically stay in, and will they fall out...or just disintegrate. Just curious to know what I should expect! For some reason the stitch on one of my top gums seems a little loose, is this normal as well?
