How can diabetics get disabilities?
Diabetes is not a disability. It is a chronic illness that can have complications that result in a person being disabled. Many diabetics (even type 1) are able to hold down a job. My mother was diagnosed at age 10 with diabetes, and has taken insulin her entire life. She married, raised 3 children, and went to work when my father ped away. She retired at age 65 and only in the past few years has she become unable to do many things. I have a cousin who is Type 2, but severely overweight and has heart and kidney problems that is now receiving disability.
