This person never asked if (P) photo (V) voltaic was better than back up batteries,while in fact if you truly wanted P V for back up you need batteries at night.as they are two aspects of one system ...I think they might have been asking about Solar Heat systems, aka Steam power or Pive heat transfer...Well those are fine systems also but still limited to day light use unless you have an exotic way to maintain enough heat (heat sink) to heat or drive generators at night....This is why as with a large number of P V systems especially in the country side under high use the PV / Battery system is Augmented by Windmills that work 24 hrs a day .......if the breeze blows.....nothing is perfect but it`s the best we have ...for now...
