Is it safe for a pregnant woman to swim in a hotel pool?

Im taking my girl up the coast for a few days to relax, but is it safe to swim in the outdoor pool? I guess theyre a lot dirtier than pools at the swimming baths/gyms, let alone all the rowdy kids crashing around?
