Why does a zoom lens have two different f stops in the widest to the zoom in.?
When you buy an inexpensive zoom lens, for example an 18 - 55mm F3.5/5.6, why is the widest open aperture at 18mm f3.5 and at 55mm the widest aperture is f5.6.
